Volunteer with KEFACCUL

Cameroonians are proud of their culture and love welcoming people from outside to integrate and mix in with their local customs and way of life. The KEFACCUL volunteer program is based on the idea of providing services to disadvantaged people and growing communities in Cameroon. It is also about exchanging knowledge and cultures, both for the locals and for the volunteers.

Volunteering with KEFACCUL involves engaging with local development issues, it means conducting community- oriented research and engaging directly with project stakeholders, our members and our work partners.

 

Microfinance Volunteer Background

Due to limited access to affordable credit and financing, subsistence farmers in many rural communities lack the means to increase the scope of their operations and improve their livelihoods. This has led to rural exodus, urbanization and the aging of the agriculturally productive population. KEFACCUL is seeking volunteers with experience in microfinance to help develop Key Farmers Saving and Loans Cooperative (KEFACCUL LTD.), to provide farmers with the financial services they need to invest in and expand their agribusiness activities.

Duties

The volunteer will be working with Key Farmers Cameroon (KFC) members on a variety of projects. Specific duties will include but are not limited to the following:

• Community outreach regarding the products and services provided by KEFACCUL LTD.

• Organizing business management classes for microfinance members and the general public.

• Supporting young agribusiness owners through youth entrepreneurship courses.

• Evaluating KFC member group practices and providing guidance to improve organizational management and institutional capacity.

Qualifications

Required Education:

• Bachelors degree in business, economics and/ or social related field.

Experience:

• Hands-on experience in business counseling, financial management, accounting and/or entrepreneurship. Experience writing and implementing business plans is an advantage.

• Innovative, self-driven, and able to work independently.

• Ability to work well with a range of stakeholders, including rural farmers, government officials and NGO’s / civil society.

• Experience in training and ability to organize and implement training sessions.

Language:

• Very good communication and drafting skills and fluent in English.

• Communication skills in French will be an added advantage.
